What improvements would you like to see in Hudson over the next 10 years?
First and foremost the Master Plan needs to be completed. Once the Master Plan is completed that document needs to be alive, the guiding map of Hudson and continuously referred to as decisions are made.
Immediately, we need to look closely at how the town communicates with the community. As we all know without the HLN information has been difficult to find or to keep up with. Communication to our community I believe is the largest challenge the town of Hudson faces. My hope is to look at our community and all the gifts and resources our citizens have to share and create a dialogue. Then facilitate new ways of communicating with the community, consistently and accurately.
If elected I would only have 3 years to help influence the next 10 years. The Board of Selectmen have many responsibilities, but for me Health and Safety of Hudson are at the top of my list. With current development I want to ensure that our Fire and Police have the resources they need to meet the new issues which will come as our roads become more congested and industry changes. Given our budget constraints I believe there needs to be some long-range planning. It is important to understand what is on the horizon and to continuously assess how we can meet the safety and health needs of the community.
Having an eye to the future and what is coming based on approvals, new regulations and changes that happen as time moves forward, I believe creating policy that reaches forward and just doesn’t take in to account the here and now is important for any town. For instance hiring an independent company to do a comprehensive traffic study for our town, a group or company not associated with the state or any of the developers in town. We need to always seek independent research that is reliable and non-biased. Just because we have not found the best answer for Hudson does not mean it isn’t out there waiting to be found.
